The role of Director of Quality and Food Safety is to lead the North America Quality and the Global Food Safety organization championing food safety requirements, guiding the organization on regulatory issues and requirements and providing long term direction to ensure our programs, processes and systems meet the quality requirements of all customers.
Primary Responsibilities:

Establish and lead strategy and goals for NA quality management systems and drive company-wide strategy and goals for food safety to include food safety management systems, compliance and certification audits and regulatory and technical requirements for existing and future markets.

Integrate and align food safety and quality management with Business, Operations, Supply Chain and Innovations processes to develop appropriate support for company initiatives.

Assess the impact of market and/or supply chain process improvements to ensure quality and food safety is considered in all final decisions.

Minimize business risk through prevention-based programs, and develop and monitor quality and food safety KPIs to ensure protection of the consumer, customer and brand.

Identify and address potential regulatory issues that may have regional or global business or customer impact. With legal counsel, review pending issues and identify operational or business needs to ensure compliance.

Drive strategy to be recognized by our customers as the leader in quality and food safety through programs designed to showcase our programs, update our customers on improvements, take customers through growing operations, and attend customer-led meetings.

Provide technical quality expertise and tools to help manage product quality and food safety, facilitate resolution to customer issues, and support new product development internally and with our customers.

Ensure the right resources are in place to support the NA Quality and Food Safety organizations. Responsible for the management and development of the employees in the NA Quality organization to ensure individual’s success.
Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Food Science or related field required.

5 – 8 years leading Quality and Food Safety programs with 5+ years as a manager.

Technical knowledge of the food industry and understanding of food microbiology in Agriculture required with specific produce experience preferred.

Requisite understanding of global Food Safety and Quality standards and their application in a corporate and manufacturing environment.

Strongly familiar PCQI, HACCP, and GFSI programs as well as FSMA and LGMA.
Skills The successful applicant will possess the following:

Advanced knowledge of Food Safety Management Systems, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), cGMPs, Good Agricultural Practices, and Quality System standards.

Experience leading resolution of potential food safety incidents, regulatory issues, and risk assessments.

Proven cooperative relationships with regulatory officials and industry associates.

Demonstrated ability to develop people, teams, and oneself through innovative means

Ability to lead teams and align to common goals in a matrix organization.

Ability to think strategically about our business, quality improvements, how we best support our customers, and how we stay on the forefront of technology.

Advanced knowledge of utilizing statistical tools for problem solving, data analysis, and decision making.

Skilled in written and verbal communication to drive change and influence people including those outside of direct management responsibility.

Demonstrated past performance to show ability to initiate change that supports business growth.

Effective presentation, and public speaking skills

Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
